Service animals

SINCLAIR Boutique Hotel welcomes guests with disabilities who use qualifying service animals. A service animal is not a pet and must be individually trained to perform work or tasks directly related to a person's disability.

Emotional-support, comfort, companionship and therapy animals that are not individually trained to perform disability-related work or tasks are not treated as service animals for hotel access under the ADA.

When the need is not apparent, hotel staff may ask only whether the animal is required because of a disability and what work or task it has been trained to perform. We will not request training documentation or inquire about the nature or extent of a guest's disability.

Handler responsibility

A service animal must remain under its handler's control at all times. It must be harnessed, leashed or tethered unless the guest's disability prevents this or the device would interfere with its safe and effective work. In that case, the animal must remain controlled through voice commands, signals or another effective method.

The handler is solely responsible for the animal's supervision, care, feeding, toileting and cleanup. Hotel employees are not responsible for supervising, feeding, walking, handling or otherwise caring for a service animal.

Damage to hotel property

SINCLAIR Boutique Hotel does not impose a pet fee, service-animal fee, surcharge or additional deposit for a qualifying service animal.

Guests remain financially responsible for damage caused by their service animal to the same extent that the hotel charges any guest for damage. This may include reasonable repair, replacement or special cleaning of furniture, linens, bedding, flooring, doors, walls and other hotel property. Any charge is based on actual damage and the hotel's generally applicable damage policy, not simply on the animal's presence.

Control, housebreaking & safety

The hotel may require a service animal to be removed when permitted by law, including when the animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action, the animal is not housebroken, or its behavior poses a direct threat to others' health or safety.

Any direct-threat determination will be based on the particular animal's actual behavior and circumstances, not assumptions about a breed or type. If an animal is lawfully excluded, the guest will be offered the opportunity to continue receiving hotel services without it, as required by law.

Injury or property damage

The handler remains responsible for controlling the service animal and for damage or injury caused by it to the extent provided by applicable law.

Nothing in this policy waives any rights, defenses, remedies or limitations of liability available to SINCLAIR Boutique Hotel, or restricts rights afforded to individuals with disabilities under applicable federal or Florida law.

Unauthorized animals

Pets and other non-service animals are prohibited. Bringing an unauthorized animal onto the property may violate hotel rules and reservation terms and may result in remedies permitted under the reservation agreement and applicable law.

The hotel will not apply an unauthorized-animal charge merely because an animal is a qualifying service animal.
